Fifth Grade Reading Summer Work

FIFTH GRADE SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENTS (2017-2018)

1)  CHOOSE ONE BOOK FROM MRS. C'S GRADE 4 AND 5 READING LIST, TO READ. 

  • WRITE AND DRAW A CHARACTER ANALYSIS OF THE MAIN CHARACTER'S TRAITS.  
  •  ON A SMALL POSTER BOARD, MAKE A ONE INCH BORDER FRAME AROUND IT.  DRAW AN ILLUSTRATION OF THE CHARACTER IN THE CENTER.  ON THE FRAME, ADD DESCRIBING WORDS ,AND GLUE OBJECTS THAT WILL DESCRIBE HIM/HER.
  • ON A SEPARATE PAPER, TYPE OR WRITE (IN CURSIVE/IN INK),  AT LEAST THREE GOOD PARAGRAPHS, A BIOGRAPHY OF THIS CHARACTER.

2) CHOOSE A BOOK OF YOUR CHOICE ON A COMFORTABLE READING LEVEL FOR YOU

  • IT MUST HAVE CHAPTERS AND AT LEAST 125 PAGES.
  • WRITTEN: CHOOSE THE MOST EXCITING SCENE IN THE BOOK.  REWRITE THIS SCENE BY CHANGING ITS SETTING/  KEEP THE CHARACTERS AND EVENTS THE SAME, BUT HAVE THEM OCCUR IN A DIFFERENT PLACE OR TIME.  HOW MIGHT THIS ALTER THE OUTCOME OF THE SCENE OR STORY?
