As a member of the Parochial school system of the Archdioceses of Hartford, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School follows the curriculum outlined by the Office of Education, Evangelization, and Catechesis. This is a highly rigorous curriculum, with emphasis placed on the fundamentals of:

  • Religion
  • Mathematics
  • Language  Arts
  • Reading
  • Social Studies
  • Science
  • World Language (Spanish Grades 1-8) 
  • Music
  • Art
  • Physical Education

These are all part of the standard curriculum.

The teaching of religion has a prominent place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School. Daily religion classes are supplemented by monthly liturgies and integration of the values and teachings of Christ into all areas of the school day. All students take religion classes and are expected to participate in school religious activities.

Co-curricular activities at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School include: boys and girls teams in basketball and soccer, girls softball, student council, peer tutoring, Meriden Catholic Schools Theater, a ski and snowboard club for students in grade 5 - 8, a student yearbook committee, and a drama club. Students are also invited to become part of the Children's Choir, Altar Servers group, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts.  If a club or organization is proposed to the school Principal, it will be very well received!
